OOTD - The Boyfriend Tee Dress

Saturday, 28 February 2015

 Shirt Dress - Brandy Melville
Jacket - Forever 21
Bag - Accessorize
Boots - Topshop
Ring - Camden Market
Nails - Essie 'Wicked'

As you can tell from my awful pose, this is my first OOTD. Don't know how I feel about it. It's basically me playing around with my camera trying to balance it in different places around my room to get a good angle, and failing miserably.
However, I really wanted to show this t shirt dress I bought from Brandy Melville in Amsterdam, and why everyone should now buy one. My fashion basically consists of what I think looks ok and is comfortable, and I think this look is my new favourite. The oversized tee with tights, boots and a jacket will always be a winner as its relaxed, casual, literally effortless but still looks put together.
This tee dress is the perfect length and as with all Brandy Melville its SO SOFT. I've been obsessed with it since I got back from Amsterdam and have literally worn it everyday (its in the wash now don't worry) and I'm definitely going to be on the look out for more of them as they are now my wardrobe staple.
I hope you enjoyed my first OOTD as it was a bit different to what I usually post, thanks for reading as always!

AMSTERDAM 16th-20th Feb 2015

Monday, 23 February 2015

This time last week I was off to Amsterdam, and I miss it already!
Its such a beautiful and interesting place with so much history. The first day we visited the Anne Frank house which was an incredible experience, and then in the evening we went to see the Red Light District. The following day was the Van Gogh museum and a major shopping trip, along with a coffee shop stop in the evening. The last couple of days we spent exploring, eating in cafes and seeing the sights of Amsterdam!
Its such a great place to visit and I'm dying to go back. Its definitely a place that you could keep going back too, whether to explore, take beautiful photographs or just go crazy with a group of friends.

The goddess that is Petra Collins

Wednesday, 11 February 2015

She is just a genius. A few years ago I discovered ROOKIE , an online publication created by Tavi that is easily the best thing on the internet.

And one of the best things on Rookie is the photography by Petra Collins. Capturing moments of teenage angst, rebellion and reflection. She recently caused controversy with a recent exhibit that showed attributes of a girls adolescence that society usually tries to ignore. Also being banned from instagram for a picture showing female pubic hair (heaven forbid) and releasing this T-shirt showing mensuration has, in my eyes, made her a feminist icon.
Dealing with the censorship of women's bodies in an non sexualised way in the media has caused a lot of talk in recent months resulting in the 'free the nipple campaign'  and even breast feeding protests.
And Petra Collins is leading the way for women's bodies to be accepted by society and the media as normal, and not always in an sexual and 'man pleasing' light.

Thanks for reading as always!

Green Smoothie Recipe

Wednesday, 4 February 2015

Green smoothies seemed to have taken over the internet lately. From instagram to Youtube, you can't escape from them, and for a while I could only think of one thing. Ew.
But I decided to give it a try, and by combining a few ingredients from different recipes I think I've actually found a way to make green taste good.

What you'll need:

Handful of curly kale
Handful of spinach
One apple
Half a Banana
Portion of cucumber
Handful of frozen pineapple and mango

Its so easy, just cut up everything and then shove it in a blender! One tip that I would give is to add frozen fruit because it will keep your smoothie cold, and your fruit will stay fresh for longer. I also prefer to take the skin of the apple as it gives the smoothie a better texture. Lots of people also seem to be using coconut water, but water seems to work just as well!
This recipe is enough to either make two smoothies or a single giant one, so you don't need to alter the amounts if you want to make more than one.

Thanks for reading, and I hope I made these smoothies sound a bit more appealing!
