Current Favourites

Saturday, 24 January 2015

So we're already a month into 2015. Woah.
And of course January means one thing, using all your new Christmas presents. I was so glad I finally got my hands on the naked palette because yes, it is worth the hype. Every shade is so pretty its difficult not to use all of them at once, but my favourites are definitely sidecar and toasted. The shadows are so pigmented but easy to blend so it really is the ultimate palette.
I was also gifted with the Clinique take the day off balm and its just amazing. To put it simply, the name really does say it all. It gets rid of every last scrap of make up while giving your skin a really good cleanse, making your face feel refreshed.
It's been a struggle to find the perfect 'going out' outfit, but I think I've finally done it with the help of this h+m playsuit. SO PRETTY. But now I'm facing a new struggle of wanting to wear it every Saturday night...
And lastly, if you read my last post you'll know that I've been writing in this beautiful diary from accessorize. Everyday is an adventure. Even if like me you don't get out of your pj's and have watched family guy all day.

Hope you enjoyed reading!

Start writing a diary

Sunday, 18 January 2015

I'm always thinking of where I want to be in the future. What my life will be like in a couple of decades or so. And I like the idea of having something to store my memories in, so one day in the future I can look back and remember the days I decided I wanted to write about or take photos of. And that's why I'm determined to keep a diary.
Now,  I've tried and failed to keep a diary probably since the age of being able to write. Starting every new page with the date and a 'dear diary' entry about everyday trivialities, but then soon losing interest and forgetting to write down anything for months.
However, I think I've finally found a way of actually wanting to keep my diary up to date.

First things first, find a diary/journal you'll want to keep writing in. Everything to do with size, how many pages, the front cover and lined or blank pages is important, and whether you want something sleek and expensive or cheap so you can decorate it yourself.
Don't feel like you need to write everyday. I've tried doing this but failed soon after realising that not everyday is worth writing about. If there isn't anything you feel you need to write about, they you don't need to. Just keep the diary for days that you really want to remember, or when you need and emotional outlet!
And of course it doesn't have to just be for words. Draw, doodle, create art. Use pens or paint. Sometimes its great to just have a scribble page. Make a page dedicated to your favourite song lyrics or poem.
Include photos randomly.  Facebook might not be around forever, get physical copies of your memories.
If you just feel like writing then make lists. Of your favourites songs, your goals, to do lists, places you want to travel. Literally anything.

Hope you enjoyed reading this post, and lets get off the computer for a minute to go back to basics and start a diary.

My Bedside Table

Monday, 5 January 2015

Hello 2015! I can't believe its the new year already, and I also can't believe we haven't got any hover boards to celebrate. Might have to squeeze a couple of Back to the Future quotes in a few posts here and there.
Anyway, I wasn't really sure what to do for my first post of the year, and I was looking back over my archive and I found that this was one of my first posts, so I thought I might do a little update. I love reading these and seeing what sort of things everyone likes to keep by there bed, from skincare regulars to their favourite pieces of jewellery.
I always do my make up sitting on my bed, so I keep my brushes (pretty much all Real Techniques) and a mirror (from Ikea) always near by, along with my make up bag ( Urban Outfitters) full of my everyday products. I keep my brushes in used Candle jars, usually ones I've burned out through the winter months.
I also like to keep my favourite perfume, STELLA by Stella McCartney, on the table as this is usually something I forget as I head out the door. The skincare products I usually have to reach for are my Origins Make a Difference Night cream and Origins Super Spot remover, and I'm always lusting after more Origins products as they just feel so nurturing to the skin, however not so much to your bank account.
The jewellery sitting in the decorative dishes are my everyday favourites, like the big chunky rings I bought from Camden Market, and of course the necessary bobby pins that always seem to go missing. And lastly, a candle has always got to be burning!

Hope you enjoyed this little post, and happy new year!
