Music- The Car Playlist

Thursday, 14 August 2014

Recently I was very lucky to get a car for my 18th birthday (don't worry, a lot of money went towards it as well!) and a big difference from learning to drive is actually driving around by yourself. That first trip of being by yourself is so strange and is very much like a first taste of real independence, but its also terrifying. Mainly because of other people forgetting how roundabouts work.
Something I love about driving is that it offers a bit of escape, a place where you can just drive and listen to music. My car is pretty old so we had to by a new radio, and this means my iphone can now be connected to the speakers, which is a lifesaver as the only CD's I have are from 2006. Not really the mature sound I was looking for.
This also allowed me to create a playlist as I soon realised trying to skip through songs to find a decent one is quite difficult whilst operating a vehicle. Here are a few that I've recently added:

1. Arcade Fire- Ready To Start
2. Hole- Malibu
3. Lana Del Ray- West Coast
4. Red Hot Chilli Peppers- Dani California
5. Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers- American Girl
6. Nirvana- On a plain
7. Guns 'n' Roses- Mr. Brownstone
8. Fleetwood Mac- Don't Stop
9. Eddie Vedder- Society (Into The Wild Soundtrack)
10. Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody

Music can totally make a difference to a drive. From feeling like Lana Del Ray driving along a west coast to replicating the iconic Waynes World Bohemian Scene (which my little brother very much enjoys).
What do you love listening to on a long car journey, whether you're the driver or not?

Ah, bet it feels SO GOOD to have your own car! Btw, your playlist is seriously crackin'!

Thanks for your comment on my post, by the way. Glad I wasn't the only one who was vaguely enthusiastic during GCSES!

I recently broke the USB/phone link to the speakers in my car so I'm relying on old CDs at the moment.. the only ones I have that are half-decent are old Arctic Monkeys albums and an awkward mixtape from my ex-boyfriend. Arctic Monkeys it is, then... haha. Lovely blog.
